THE ULTRA - 68k
The Double Summits
This ULTRA category will test the endurance of each racer with Mt. Arjuno-Welirang’s double summit route. Unlike the ARJUNO-34K route, that went from Mt. Arjuno’s summit to Sepilar Temple, this 68K route will descend to Mahapena via Wonosari Tea Estate path. You will then meet Sepilar Temple in the last climb segment before the finish.
This track begins with hiking to the summit of Mt. Welirang. Then on to the summit of Mt. Arjuno, trampling through the terrain that demands focus and stamina. After that, this route takes you down towards Mahapena, passing the beautiful Lincing savannah. The beauty of this savannah becomes one of the main attraction of the ULTRA-68K route, serving a soothing visual pause before continuing to Budug Asu and Wonosari Tea Estate.
The first rest area is the WaterStation – Wonosari at 40km point, where your DROPBAG awaits. As an update, the previously planned DROPBAG at Kuneer Hills are now available in Wonosari the same as previous year. Participants are expected to arrive at WaterStation – Wonosari within 14 hours, if you exceed the COT than you are not allowed to continue any further.
From Wonosari, the path went upward to Sepilar Temple, where you will pass many historical sites like Tambakwatu & Sepilar Temple. Descending from Sepilar Temple to Putuk Lesung is the last challenge before approaching the finish line. This segment is very technical and requires extra caution.
The ULTRA-68K category also have a special reward. Participants who successfully finish within 15 hours will receive the DWARAPALA WARRIOR Award, a tribute to those who manage to conquer this arduous route. Meanwhile, participants who finish MORE than 22 hours will remain welcomed at the finish line with the title of CONQUEROR and are entitled to a finisher’s medal, though they will not be noted in the official race results.

THE ULTRA - 116k
The Signature Trail
The Ultra 116K is the signature category of MANTRA116, a true challenge for those who dare. A staggering distance of 116 km, elevation gain 7,400 meters and 33 hours time-limit, this category is an epic journey across two majestic peaks : Arjuno and Welirang.
The journey starts at Kaliandra (770 mdpl), climb to the peak of Mt. Welirang (3156 mdpl), then descend to Cangar (1600 mdpl) to climb back up again towards the peak of Mt. Arjuno (3339 mdpl). For safety reasons, the runners should reach the peak of Mt. Arjuno before 15.00 o’clock, to ensure the downhill from Mt. Arjuno is not happening when the sky is dark and hard to see. For those who didn’t manage to reach the peak before 15:00, will go down with the sweeper team towards the evacuation point in WaterStation – Randu through the path of Sepilar Temple.
From Mt. Arjuno, you will dash towards a long downhill to Bukit Kuneer at 55km point, t he location of the first DROPBAG. The trail continues passing Budug Asu towards UB Forest, until arriving at WaterStation – Wonosari at 88km point, also the location of the second DROPBAG and COP with a 25-hour deadline.
The last 28km segment will surely test your mental-state and endurance. Heading to Sepilar Temple you will be greeted with a technical climb and a steep downhill. Sepilar Temple is a heavy climb in an already depleted physical condition. Integrity will take you to the finish line.
For those of you who complete this extraordinary race within 28 hours, you will be awarded with the DWARAPALA WARRIOR Award as a symbol of outstanding achievement. On the other hand, those of you who finished after 33 hours will still be welcomed at the finish gate with pride and be celebrated as CONQUERORs, taking home medals in recognition of your unyielding spirit, though they will not be noted in the official race results.
MANTRA116 is a call to defy limits for the strong-willed to discover all-new-strength within themselves while witnessing wonders through every step at Mt. Arjuno-Welirang. Every harsh climb, tired sweat and sore muscles on the journey to the top, at the end, you will reach not just the destination but also your new self.
